Timo Werner’s comments, which suggested a future transfer away from the team, were misunderstood, according to Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel stated that he “doesn’t comprehend” some comments made by Timo Werner that seemed to indicate he might leave the team.

The Blues striker said recently that he “could be happy anywhere” when asked about recent rumors that he may go this summer.

He went on to remark that it was “clear” that he wanted to play more because he only started 15 league games last season and the World Cup comes later this year.

The most important aspect is, first and foremost, that I be happy. I’m thrilled when I play and score goals,” stated Werner.

That is a fact. I should take care of that first because if I do, the other things will follow. I could be content anywhere I went.

“I believe that the manager always has different ideas, concepts, and what you need in certain games. I strive to fix that since I feel that in many games I was not in his thoughts.

It is clear that I need to play more games if I want to get in better shape for the World Cup and have a better chance of competing there.

It doesn’t matter to me whether the World Cup is hosted in the winter or the summer. I believe that I should play if I can do so for the entire season or even just a portion of it.

Because he plays for Chelsea, the German international should be “one of the happiest persons on the planet,” but Tuchel claimed to be “surprised” by Werner’s comments.

“I’m shocked. As a young man, I would be ecstatic to sign a contract with Chelsea Football Club. The Blues manager said, “If that happened, I’d be among the happiest people living.”

I’d be among the happiest people on the planet if Chelsea offered me a contract. I’m not sure if he said it out loud.

The striker was reportedly discussed as part of a trade for Juventus’ Matthijs de Light, who ultimately decided to play for Bayern Munich, even if his manager insists that he is still in his plans for the current season.

He is absolutely our player, Tuchel continued.
