Thiago Silva, a defender for Chelsea, has made suggestions that he would soon depart the team when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign, which is just a few months away.

In February of last year, Silva signed a one-year contract extension. However, based on his most recent remarks to reporters, the Brazilian centre back doesn’t seem likely to sign a fifth year at Stamford Bridge, having inked fresh 12-month contracts on a regular basis during his tenure there.

After Chelsea crushed Middlesbrough 6-1 in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, Silva said he felt like his time in blue was running out.

“To be adored by the fans is a great source of pride,” he stated in a video clip taken from Hayters TV.

“Every time I play here at Stamford Bridge, I’m happy.” It’s a unique and distinct experience, and I become a little depressed because I know that every game I finish gives me the impression that it’s coming to an end. but content with the most crucial aspect of the gameβ€”the performance on the pitch.”

With 20-year-old Levi Colwill at the centre of the defence and 39-year-old Silva playing the entire 90 minutes, Chelsea secured a spot in the Carabao Cup final, which will take place next month, giving them a chance to win English football’s first major prize of the year.

Wednesday night will reveal to the Blues their opponent at Wembley, as Liverpool attempts to maintain their 2-1 aggregate advantage over Fulham in the second semifinal.

Since the summer of 2020, when the 35-year-old Silva joined Chelsea, the team has advanced to three Wembley finals without winning. They were defeated by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals the next year after losing to Leicester City in the FA Cup final of 2021.

“The team’s performance and the fact that there will be another final at Wembley have me happier. If my memory serves me correctly, I lost each of my three visits there. It’s time to win, in my opinion,” Silva stated.
