Jean-Clair Todibo, a defender for the French national team, has been linked to Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The 24-year-old has been fantastic for OGC Nice and has established himself as one of the best defenders in European football.
The defender has a price tag of €60 million (£51.5 million) set by the French team, and English clubs will have to pay a premium to recruit him, according to a report by GFFN.
Todibo would be an excellent addition for Tottenham, who are in dire need of a new centre defence. The only dependable central defenders for North London right now are Radu Dragusin, Micky van de Ven, and Cristian Romero. Todibo could finish out their defensive unit for the time being, but they still need to add more depth to that position.
The French international defender will undoubtedly be drawn to the Premier League as well, and with coaching and experience under his belt, he should only get better.
Chelsea, meanwhile, is also interested in the 24-year-old, who might end up becoming Thiago Silva’s long-term replacement.
In the upcoming months, it will be interesting to watch if the teams are willing to spend the €60 million for the player. Since it is extremely doubtful that a transfer would occur in January, it would have to wait until the summer window.
In the long run, Todibo might make the investment worthwhile because he possesses the skills necessary to succeed in the Premier League.
