John Terry claims Mauricio Pochettino is a ‘great manager’ who can turn things around at Chelsea…

Mauricio Pochettino is a “great manager,” but John Terry maintains that Chelsea is “a long way off the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool” and that the team “needs time” for him to turn things around.

Thus far in their 2023–2024 Premier League campaign, Pochettino’s team has won nine, drawn four, and lost eight of their first 21 games.

Despite spending a record-breaking £448.5 million on players during the summer transfer window under their new ownership, Chelsea is currently ranked ninth in the table.

Terry believes Pochettino has what it takes to turn Chelsea around, even though the team is far from contending for the championship after seeing him “work on a daily basis.”

“Unfortunately, Chelsea are a little bit off it at the moment,” Terry acknowledged while accepting the Player Career Award at this week’s Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai.

However, Poch is an excellent manager; I’ve watched him work every day. The manager needs time. Although our playing group is still young, we are currently far behind teams like Man City and Liverpool.

Terry continued talking about Manchester City and said, “You know what? I believe cycles are occurring. When I go back 10, 15, years, I believe. The Premier League was dominated by Manchester United. When Chelsea arrived, we briefly ruled the game. Pep and Man City are in control right now.

I’ve been saying for a while now that it will be difficult to catch them. They have the best team, some outstanding players on the team, and it’s amazing how they manage to win year after year.

‘I managed to win the Premier League twice on the bounce, it’s really difficult to do,’ stated the former captain of Chelsea in closing. I hope they succeed; they make an amazing team.
