It appears that he has already won the affection of the fans of his new team.

The 21-year-old Ian Maatsen played for Chelsea’s squad throughout the first half of the season.

It’s also important to note that Maatsen’s new Chelsea contract has a £35 million release clause that goes into effect in the summer, according to The Evening Standard.

This afternoon, Dortmund easily defeated FC Koln 4-0 on the road.

With back-to-back Bundesliga victories, Maatsen’s debut in Germany could not have gone much better.

The Dortmund player on loan began the weekend game in his usual left-back position, though he occasionally moved into the middle pocket when the ball was in play.

His impressive display included a superb assist right from within his own half.

On social media, a large number of Dortmund fans have expressed their desire to sign Maatsen long-term.

“We need Maatsen forever, no matter what,” one supporter stated. Baller.

Another asserted: “Maatsen possesses the Dortmund DNA of a fullback’s operation. We aren’t that stupid to make the same error as Hakimi, right?

“I would pay the £35 million for Maatsen to bring that man in permanently,” wrote a third commenter.

Another stated: “Maatsen has already persuaded me after just two games.” In my opinion, we ought to start working to get him a long-term contract.

A fifth person commented, saying, “Maatsen has really impressed me. MOTM in each of his previous two games, in my perspective. I’m already convinced that we should exercise his £35 million release clause after only two games of observing him.

We can only imagine that Chelsea supporters are currently ripping out their hair. Why did Maatsen not have more opportunity to play left-back in the first half of the season?

The fact that Maatsen has adapted to Dortmund so ease is hardly surprising.
