The former Liverpool player believes that these three players are “not good enough” to be playing for Chelsea.

Following Saturday’s 4-1 loss to Newcastle United, three Chelsea players have come under fire from former Liverpool player Steve Nicol, who stated they aren’t “good enough” to play for the Blues.

After just 13 league games, the Blues have already lost five of their season, and coach Mauricio Pochettino says this loss is the worst they have experienced thus far. Eddie Howe’s team defeated them.

Conor Gallagher, 23, was not at all good against Newcastle and was even substituted off after more than sixty minutes, despite the fact that he has been praised for his maturity and improvement as a Chelsea player this season.

Speaking on ESPN FC, Nicol had nothing positive to say about Gallagher and named Lesley Ugochukwu, Nicolas Jackson, and Gallagher as players who shouldn’t be on the Chelsea team.

“To put it another way, they have players playing who shouldn’t be playing in a team that should be in the top four,” he stated. You know, neither Gallagher nor Jackson are good enough up front. Ugochukwu demonstrated today why I believe he is insufficient.

Gallagher is the one player who, at this point in the season, shouldn’t be the target of criticism. It would be unfair to assess the midfielder so harshly after just one poor performance because he has improved significantly for the Blues since the beginning of the season.
