Following Newcastle’s humiliation, Pochettino discusses what he did to the Chelsea players.

Following Chelsea’s 4-1 loss to Newcastle United on Saturday, Mauricio Pochettino disclosed that he spoke with his players right away.

Following a fine free kick by Raheem Sterling after 23 minutes, Chelsea suffered their worst loss of the season as goals from Joelinton, Anthony Gordon, and Jamaal Lascelles in the second half. Alexander Isak had opened the scoring early.

Following the game, Pochettino addressed the media, saying, “We have been talking a lot about the need to become more consistent recently.

“We played two excellent games against Tottenham and Manchester City before the international break, and we talked this week about making sure we keep up these levels.”

We have a lot of room for improvement as a young team, but the intensity levels should be addressed first. Although we sincerely apologize to everyone for our performance, it is now our duty to accept accountability and put things right in the upcoming game.

“We had a reflective conversation in the locker room following the game. We need to go to bed and get back to work as soon as possible.

Sometimes you need a scenario like this one to occur with a young team in order for them to realize what is necessary.

We can take a lesson from it. We need to return as soon as possible to the levels that are expected of us, and sometimes circumstances like this one are necessary to help us realize what is required.

“Even though our team is young and talented, you still have to fight every time you take the field. These are the foundational concepts, and we must draw lessons from them.
