Sterling and Aubameyang were ruled out, and Chelsea anticipated an X1 lineup to face the villa

Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, may opt to change the lineup for this weekend’s game against Aston Villa due to Reece James’ injury.

James may be replaced at right-back by Cesar Azpilicueta, but Kepa will remain in goal. Trevoh Chalobah and Ben Chilwell could also be substituted, leaving Thiago Silva, Kalidou koulibaly, and Marc Cucurella to make up the remaining back four.

Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Lotus-Cheek, and Mason Mount (who was substituted at halftime against AC Milan) might form a three-man midfield. Mason Mount would play the number 10 position.

The leading three could also see some adjustments. Raheem Sterling and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang are making room so that players like Kai Harvertz and Christian Pulisic can enter. Another option is to recall Conor Gallagher.

Chelsea assumed that X1 would face Aston Villa.

The following players are Kepa, Azpilicueta, Silva, Koulibaly, Cucurella, Loftus-Cheek, Mount, Gallagher, Havertz, and Pulisic.
